Extendable Poles for BRT flags

Deane Thrower
Fellow FlyShooters,

I was wondering if anyone had some surplus extendable poles for BRT flags or suggestions on what to buy. I see there is all different kinds on the range so I figure I would see what works best. Also what height you need. I would appreciate any feedback you can offer.

Thanks lads

Hi Mate,

There are plenty of different systems and ideas out there.... but if you just want higher poles for the BRT flags.....  Barry Edgley makes the best and will make them however long you want....

If you want them tall enough to get to 500m at Canberra, Little River and to some point Batemans Bay, Wagga and Brisbane you will need to fabricate something to add to the edgley ones....

Aluminium camping store poles and electrical glands is a good place to start.  Have a look at Barry Tuckers, Mine and a few others at canberra this weekend.

Cheers

What heights are required for Canberra, or the height that is needed for the Gallaudet ranges

My Guess is that you need about about 2 poles that go to around 6m, one about 7-8 if you can get it and another 3 that will go 4-5 and a few shorter (less than 2m) ones & that will cover most ranges with the typical 6 flags over 500m.

Of course you can use as many more than that as you want.... but I find that number and length works.

Thanks Lads, food for thought. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

There seems to be a lot of views on all the threads of late and not many comments. What's the go there people. My impression is the more opinions floating around the forums there more there is to talk about. Just my observation

Cheers

Hi mate yeh i agree there are alot of lookers and not much discussion going on if we look back through the threads i think there is alot of unfinished business but many don't reply for what ever reason. This site has always encouraged discussion amongst it's members to ensure everyone has a voice. I will look back over some threads myself that i would like to see keep going and see if we can generate some interest.
cheers Les
