February Batemans Bay Fly Shoot

Hi All,

February Fly Shoot at Batemans Bay will be cancelled for this year.

As I am sure you are all aware, we have been significantly impacted by the bushfires in our region, and our club house did not escape the fire.  At this stage we are not able to properly assess the extent of the damage to the entire range as the property is still unsafe to enter, however I am confident that there will be extensive damage to the perimeter signage and boundary fences as well as the clubhouse and target shed.  The range will be closed for some time.

On the positive side, we do have insurance.  As soon as the danger is passed, we will seek professional assessment and engage with our insurers to establish a way forward, and maybe even be back in operation for the June Fly Shoot !!  Watch this space.

Thank you for all the kind messages we have received and the offers of support, I am sure we will need all the help we can get when the time comes.  Please don't be offended if you don't get replies as many of us are still without power, regular internet and phones in the region.

Mate....no real surprises here!
So sorry to hear about the carnage, not only for the rifle club but for everybody affected so seriously by these fires all around the country!
I'll miss it though...the anticipation of the first match for the year....the annual swim in the surf at McKenzies Beach & all the bullshit banter over a cleansing lager at the range!!

Sincerely hope all goes well for you guys. Perhaps we'll catch up at the Nat's in Canberra.
