We had a great day at the range on Saturday for our last shoot of the year. It was a warm 28C with a light variable breeze, the mirage was the worst I have seen in years so the last card was almost impossible to see unless you had a very good scope. This was our best group of rimfire shooters assembled since the state titles in Batemans Bay so was very good to see. Kathy Dundas won the day and the bottle of Chivas Regal Scotch with a fantastic score of 278.2 and the juniors did very well in tough conditions. It was a long trip home for me after getting beaten by Kathy and the boys. The new Fly target frames were well received and again I wish to thank John Gilbert and Mark Wallace carpentry services for their assistance in building the frames last week. I am sure Mark will enjoy the Scotch with Kathy over the xmas break. S Scores 1st Kathy Dundas 278.2 2nd Ed McGrann 272.6 3rd Alex Dundas Jr 256.2 4th Scott Dundas Jr 250.6 5th David Dundas 250.0 6th Keagan McGrann Jr 238.3 7th Tony Souter 237.4 8th Keith Dowell 235.4 8th John Gilbert 235.1 10th Richard Paine 212.2 11th Michael Debono 153.1 Our next shoot will be on the 13th Feb 2016. Have a good xmas and safe new year’s, Dave Dundas |

Well done at the fly Kathy is really shooing well and giving the guys something to chase. I hope to get to a silverdale match in 2016 would be a lot of fun.
cheers and good shooting Les
shooting well is more a mental control of your thoughts than just pulling the trigger........

The scores were very high considering the conditions. The Mirage was so bad on the last card that most shooters said they shot "blind" - could not see where the shots went but held off the same they on the earlier targets. We expected to see some shockers as a result but they were suprisingly good.
With my Nightforce 15-55x scope I was just able to see the bullet holes but was too far behind by that stage. I found it hard to run the match and shoot at the same time, its no excuss but I just never got into my rythem and was too impatient to wait for the best condition. Kathy has won the last 2 months in a row, shot a personal best score on Saturday and was the most consistent. She is now watching the wind\flags herself and is picking the condition she wants herself - no help from me! The Juniors also are now shooting on their own and have learn't alot over the last couple of years, its good to see. The true test will be at Batemans bay with the wind blowing and the ice cold conditions - that sorts out the boys\girls from the men! Next Fly will be on the 13th Feb, Dave |
