Just found out about this business in my home town of Goulburn NSW. It is amazing the types of patterns that hydrodipping can impart to an object. Here is their facebook page. Their prices seem very reasonable. Painting of wide F Class / Fly stocks will cost a little more than a hunting syle.
A bench stock will cost circa $250. they can paint almost any surface. My demo was laminated ply. They spray on a special undercoat, and sand smooth. Then they hydrodip the stock (or any object, carparts etc). The paint starts out as a dry film which has the pattern in it (they have lots of patterns). They then spray the film on the surface of the water with stuff that turns the film into a liquid. Then slowly dip the object in. Lift it out to dry. Then they spray object with a clear finish, either matt or gloss.
