One of our FLY Shooters does well at 1000yds

john mc quire
 Hello all Fly Shooters
Just a note to inform you that one of our Fly shoters  -- Peter Varley --   has shot a marvelous group  at the Canberra 1000 yds   bench rest shoot last Sunday
He shot a group of  51 mm  for 5 shots  and that group may well be the best ever shot in Australia  with a light Gun    ---
                       well done Peter

                              john mc quire
Every Shot inside the Eight Ring would be GREAT

Good on you John!

I'll second that thought....Peter's a great bloke and deserves to be congratulated.
In fact all the "cane toads"  ( & there were many ) who travelled so far to attend the Federal Cup nationals last weekend need to be congratulated. It was a big effort and I think a clear indication of what a great event 500 meter shooting is!

Big thanks to Dave Groves and his crew for a massive effort in organising the biggest "fly" shoot of the year. Russ Le Maitre was also up to his neck in it in scoring the 500 fly & 300 bat and organising the 1000 yard event on Sunday. Pete Van Meurs was, as always, beavering away, scoring his leg of the 1000 and directing us all when it came time to shoot.

These matches wouldn't take place without such people and I'm sure there isn't a single shooter who doesn't appreciate it!

We should also be grateful to Stuart & Annie Elliot for the sponsorship of the 500 fly. Many of us came home with some great prizes as a result of their generosity.

Regards,
Belly

We are very fortunate to  have such  strong sponsorship and technical support groups  behind the fly shoots and shows that the 500 fly is getting stronger each year with a great group of guys and girls .hopefully interstate shooters support will continue to grow, and with the growing interest of the factory class offer enjoyment and an introduction to  new 500 fly shooting.

Well done Pete such a great result after much hard work. For those who like a bit of history behind the scenes Pete recently underwent eye surgery late last year and his focus was to get a result in the fly. Well mate you are building on a career in this sport and placings that will bring you much joy.

It is always great to see hard work pay off.

Belly a few years back said to me at Batemans bay " i love this sport i just don't know how you shoot them little groups"?  this was after i shot 283.06 with the heavy gun. Now Belly is the one to beat and we are all chasing you like crazy.

Continue to build on your efforts Pete and enjoy the ride to the winners podium there is nothing like the hunt for success!!!!!

good shooting to all
Les
shooting well is more a mental control of your thoughts than just pulling the trigger........
