Results - Batemans Bay 500 & 300 Fly

Hi All,

The first fly shoot of 2017 is now done and won !!  If this shoot is any indication, this will be a fantastic year for the Fly.  The atmosphere, competition and overall participation was amazing.

Also a record attendance for Batemans Bay, even after some withdrawals we ended up with 60 Entries for Saturday and 48 for Sunday !!  Testing conditions with VERY HOT and humid on Saturday....over 40 c on the firing line I believe, then around 23 and rain on Sunday !!  Surprisingly though, most could see bullet holes at 500 on virtually every target, and 300 was no problems at all.

Full Results are here, see tabs at the bottom or each class and event.

The $300 Procal Voucher was drawn from the Top Ten shooters on Saturday at 500Metres and was won by Stella Cross (also our highest ranked Junior), the two $50 Procal vouchers on Sunday were won by Keith Dowel and Jack Lipko.  Big thank you to Luke Easter from Procal Trading for supplying these great prizes.

There were several first time fly shooters as well as plenty of competitors all of the Eastern states, it was great to see such harmony and rivalry, no wonder this sport is growing and going forward.

Cheers,

Anthony

Good on you Anthony,
Thanks heaps for the effort by yourself & your club...another great shoot.
There,s a few good stories here with Jason Armstrong towelling up all the experienced fly shooters at 300 meters on Sunday. Although he's not new to the shooting sports this was his first weekend of fly shooting and he certainly demonstrated some pin point accuracy in nailing 14 flys.
Bob Wright also had a great weekend & took out the 2 gun with some  very consistent shooting. I get the feeling that Bob will stand tall this year as he has posted some very good scores in the last few seasons.
Probably the best story though is that of team Cross...a father & daughter combo attending, I think, there first registered match. Dad finished 3rd in the 500 LG & if you look at the scores you'll see that Stella was  definitely right in it with the last target to come...a really good effort.
All the best,
Belly

G'day Belly

Yeah it was my first big shoot. Thanks to Anthony, Stella was lucky enough to get to shoot once prior with Barry Tucker. I think Barry gets as much enjoyment (maybe even more) passing his vast amount of knowledge on as he does winning and was able to teach Stella more on that weekend then I could have ever hoped too.   We also have both been exceptionally  lucky everyone at the Bay, those who shot on the weekend and some who unfortunately couldn't make it, have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and are always there to assist and help us improve.   From what I experienced on the weekend, and seen in this forum, (We still have to thank Deane personally for those Copper Heads) feel this comradery in our chosen sport spreads far beyond the Bay. We both had a great time and now can't wait for the Canberra shoot, Stella is keen to beat her old Dad, and if the wind is on her side this time I have no doubt she will

Do you post the pictures you took ? I know my wife would love to see the "Team Cross" one you took
