G'day Geoff, I've got 2 NF competitions, both with the FCR-1 reticle. I like this reticle because I can use hold offs easily with it, it is "true" at 40x which is what I usually leave my scope on unless it is a really good day for mirage.

You won't be disappointed with one if you go that direction, but choose your reticle carefully, the lifetime warranty means you'll have it a long time so you'll have to live with the reticle you choose. Some people don't like cluttered reticles and think the the FCR1 is a bit busy, I don't but  these things are very much what suits you as an individual to get the best out of it.

Cheers

G,day dave
Thanks for the advice, I like the
FCR1 reticle like you. I like the hash
Marks like you said for hold off, I think I will go that route.

G'day Geoff

There are any number of reticle's on the market that the fly shooters use for 500m events.

I use March 8-80x with the MTR-1 reticle because it is incremental same in both windage and elevation so hold offs with wind are also calculated with elevation hold offs.

I also have a range of Night force scopes 12-42 BR series with NP-R2 and NP-2DD both have their advantages.

I guess like Dave said it is truly a personal thing, good advice at this stage would be attend a fly match and ask fellow shooters for a look through their scopes and ask them why they like the reticle they have chosen.

I really do believe that all the top brands have a place in the market for they fly it really will be up to you.

cheers Les

There is no better recognition of what reticle you are after than seeing an actual target at 500m away.
shooting well is more a mental control of your thoughts than just pulling the trigger........
