South Australia state title sept 12th & 13th september

Hi all i have been contacted by  Brendan that South Australia is holding a registered SOTY match at Monarto. The format will be Rimfire on saturday  and centrefire 500 fly on Sunday. It would be a great event to support. Hopefully we can support the shoot.

shooting well is more a mental control of your thoughts than just pulling the trigger........

12th & 13th Sept!!? Might be a little problematic for me.
I was aware South Australia had a registered match sometime this year but didn't know exactly when.
Fantastic that this event is now expanding as the more shooters we have the better.
I hope it goes well for them & I for one will get there if I can.

Will we get some info about nominations, directions to range, range facilities (camping, proximity to food & of course Pubs) etc etc?… It would be great to understand a bit more about the event.

Regards,
Belly

Just checked it out on Google maps……It's a quick squirt due west for about nine hours from Albury. Looks like Murray Bridge is the closest major town to the range.
Are any of you Wagga & Melbourne blokes up for a drive in the country??

Sounds Interesting, please post a link to where to get more details and I will distribute to the Sydney shooters. I know it a long way over to SA from here but someone might like to make the trip.

Thanks

Hi All,

Before we get too far into this I need to point out a few facts.  Much as I would like to be proven wrong, I have to tell you that this will NOT be a registered match. Match registration depends on a number of factors. Firstly the range and organising club/state has to prove themselves capable, in front of one or more Benchrest Delegates, at a 'demonstration' match to run the whole affair to SSAA requirements (cast your minds back to Wagga and their first 500 Fly). This will, hopefully, be achieved at the forth-coming S.A. state title match as Brendan Atkinson and myself will be observing. If all goes well (as I am sure it will) then the club/organisers can submit dates for registered match dates  in 2016 (all applications must be lodged before the end of the year before).

As for SOTY - this is normally linked to registered matches with some sort of 'Title' status.  As I have other business to see to at Monarto that weekend and will travel in any case I will refrain from 'voting' as to whether the SOTY rules should be 'bent' to allow this match to count in case some see me as having a 'vested interest'.

SOTY or not, it would be good to see a few interstate people support the SA crew and build some more confidence for them.

I'm interested in going over for the Sunday shoot, SOTY points or not, to check out the range and support the SA crew at their curtain raiser for getting registered in 2016.

670km & 7.25 hrs from Melbourne, a warm up for Canberra two weeks later.

it will be great to have another venue up and running  that shoots the 500 Fly  and the 200 Rimfire  on the Saturday is a bonus
all going well I will catch up with a lot of my Fly shooting friends  at Monarto
                                regards    john mc

Hi,

Great to hear of progress towards more fly matches... and another range to compete at.

I will try and get there & shoot light gun and Rimfire, please take this as a nomination.

I don't think it should count towards 2015 SOTY as it was not registered before the start of the year for all competitors to plan for etc..... and any records won't count with SSAA....but bring it on for 2016 !!

For those serious travelling competitors, a chance to check out the range and shoot there before the first soty will be valued anyway.

I will happily help out with scoring programme and anything else needed.

Kind regards,

Anthony

Great Pat - can you please use your real name and a photo please when you get the chance it is the rules for posting in the forum. I think there will be a few shooters heading your way to support the club and really happy there will be another range to shoot at well done.

Well, the weather over here has been very windy of late so if you are coming over to the Fly Shoot next weekend, don't forget to bring your wind indicators.

They probably won't help you, but at least you will know why you missed the target!

Yes, Monarto can be a very windy range.

Would love to be able to get over there but it's not to be….I'd most certainly end up getting shot & I don't mean by someone at the range.
A 14 year old's birthday party requires my presence & I have no argument capable of changing this fact.

Really hope it goes well for the boys at Monarto.
