Wagga SSAA Committee Meeting re August Blue Heeler Fly shoot 2016

chappo (Greg Chapman)
The following is authorised by the Committee of the Wagga SSAA.

On Tuesday the 8th of November 2016 the Committee met as per normal. During this meeting the conduct of the August 2016 Blue Heeler Fly shoot were discussed and debated.

The Committee debated and eventually agreed that only two members actually remember the issue of changing the trophies , to include a 500m LG/HG aggregate, having been discussed at a committee meeting PRIOR to the August shoot. The committee further agreed that at no time was a motion raised or voted on to actually and formally change the awards and presentations.

Further it was conceded that this information was not appropriately discussed with the scoring group prior to the event. It was agreed that the trophies were changed PRIOR to the day of the event.

The committee voted to reinstate the former awards and trophies based on the historical awards given out since 2011. They are the following

500m.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Light Gun
Small Group LG
Highest Target LG
1st, 2nd and 3rd Heavy Gun
Small Group HG
Highest Target HG
1st,2nd and 3rd Junior (depending on numbers)
The person who scores the highest individual score at 500m, regardless of class, is declared the winner of the 500m and has his/her photo appear on the wall in the club house.

300m
1st, 2nd and 3rd Custom
Small Group Custom
Highest Target Custom
1st, 2nd and 3rd Factory
Small Group Factory
Highest Target Factory
1st,2nd and 3rd Junior (depending on numbers)

If a shooter competes on both days (500m and 300m) his/her highest score at 500m, regardless of class, is added to his/her highest score at 300m, regardless of class, to form a TWO DAY Aggregrate 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The TWO DAY winner will win a barrel supplied by the club.

All other shooters who compete on both days go in the draw to win a barrel supplied by the club.

The committee regrets any confusion that occurred during the last shoot and has done all in its powers to ensure that this does not occur in the future. We value each and every shooter who makes the journey to compete at our events and we look forward to putting this matter to rest and continuing our fine tradition of the Blue Heeler and the 500m Fly shoots conducted at Wagga.

Kind Regards
Greg Chapman

As I was present at the meeting Greg speaks of I would correct a number of errors in his post.

1 His post was not authorised by the committee, it was authorised by Wagga president Arthur Robinson.

2 While two committee members stated they remembered the conversation (Arthur Robinson and Don Ewin) and two stated they did not (Bob Wright and Greg Chapman) the remainder did not state either way.  Hardly the committee agreeing that only two members actually remembered.

3 While  Greg is correct in saying no formal motion was raised, as there was consensus to award a two gun L/H trophy there did not seem to be any need for one.

4 At no time did the committee state that the matter had not been discussed appropriately with the scoring group prior  to the event.

Having set the record straight I sincerely hope this in the end of this matter and we can move forward with a single purpose.
