berger 108gr BT 6mm in 6BR

Stuart Pethy
Hi Guys and Girls
just wondering if any of you use the 6mm berger 108gr BT match bullets

my 105gr Hybrids and hunting vlds that i use for target are getting low and looks like BRT didnt get any in again from Berger  and the Q store are waiting for their shipment to come in but they said there isnt much 6mm stuff on there

i can get my hands on the 108gr stuff but just wondering how they go?

cheers

Hi Stuart,
I can't claim to know heaps about the 108's…I know the smallest group shot at 600 yards in the US was with these projectiles so I'd say they clearly work.
I tried them in my short necked BRX and found the bearing surface was to long for my chamber, meaning the lands pushed the projectile back passed the neck shoulder junction of the case….not good for accurate shooting.
My options were to have a gunsmith ream more free bore into the chamber or stay with the projectiles I was using,..I opted for the later.
Your standard BR has a much longer neck & so the problem I had might not occur in your rifle,..it depends on how your barrel chamber was cut.

About the only advice I can offer is to buy large numbers of the same batched projectile & order more well before you think you need them.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Regards,
Belly

thanks Belly
hadn't thought about that
I'm running .105 free bore in my 6BR so i hope it will be long enough? but time will tell
and yeah i like to buy large amounts for that very reason i brought 1500 less than 6 months ago of my hybrids and haven't been able to get any since
so i brought 1500 of the 108s to try haha, been doing a bit of reading from the US and looks like there are many happy people shooting them
if they don't work I'm sure i can sell them

cheers

Hi Stuart,

Belly kindly gave me 80 to test and I had pretty good results in my Dasher. I never tried a great deal of testing but 32.3g 15 thou jump worked well. I actually just bought 500 108s myself as my hybrids are also getting low. I have also ordered 1000 103g copperheads. Might also be an option for you, Anthony Hall uses them in his BR and his results speak for themselves. Nick also uses copperheads and is cleaning up this year in shooter of the year. ken Melgarde makes the copperheads and has a broad selection of different calibres. He is a top guy and a fly shooter to boot. If you want to offload your 108s let me know.

Good luck

Stuart,

I havnt paid from r them as yet, but if you have a look at Kens page I think there is a rough price guide. Just google copperhead bullets. Bullets are becoming hard to get. Depending on the Lot # if the 108s don't work for you I am interested in taking than off your hands.

Good shooting and hope to see you over east some time soon

Deane
