fly rule changes for rule book 2018

Hi fellow fly shooters in 2017 at Western Australia the National Benchrest Committee will be holding their annual meeting whereby agenda items will be put up and discussed for a number of reasons.

One of the more significant reasons will be amendments to the Rule book pertaining to Benchrest shooting in Australia. I would like your feedback as to what you would like to see in the rule book we can have discussion about it come to reasonable  submissions and take if from there.

Already there are a number of issues that come to mind such as bench draws etc that some shooters have expressed so put your thinking caps on read the rule book and we till go from there.

looking forward to some positive feedback

cheers Les

Remember once the rule book is agreed it cannot be changed for another 5 years........
shooting well is more a mental control of your thoughts than just pulling the trigger........

Hi mate anyone can have a say that is why i posted it here your delegates have to put items on the agenda so if there is a feel from the shooters who actually shoot this sport then we are representing what the shooters actually want.

Debate is always healthy.

Having completely done my head in trying to get a handle on some of the rules I would say that it's just about all covered pretty well….there are a couple of areas that might need to be tidied up…

a) As Paul previously stated..there appears to be no recognition of 200 meter rimfire fly in section 3.9.1
b) Rule 7.3 in the Official National Rules suggests that clubs need to provide moving backers at matches but there doesn't appear
to be an exclusion for this requirement in Fly shooting's part B….Not sure if this matters!?
c) Similarly, the same rules sect 8.9 calls for compulsory bench rotations but I can't find an exclusion for 500 Fly.

The only other muddy area might be how we give awards at our registered matches ( other than nationals )
At these matches prises are given to Light Rifle & Heavy Rifle place getters thereby keeping a clear distinction between the categories, which I most earnestly agree with. Prises are usually also given to small group, highest scoring target in category etc, etc, in effect mirroring the National Champs format.

Occasionally prises are given to combined light & heavy aggregates ( compulsory at Nationals) and also highest total score ( not mentioned in National format ) regardless of which category i.e. outright winner.

At registered matches other than Nationals it seems to be up to the host club to determine how prises are distributed…my question is..Should we standardise this process or leave it as it is?

Regards,
A confused Belly.
