Hi Jugs,

I would like to address the different states or different ranges question..

As I have said earlier, state borders are meaningless in SOTY.... Melbourne to Wagga crosses a state border, yet almost the same distance batemans bay to wagga, or Sydney to batemans bay or wagga does not....

Not only that, but then you are suggesting that we impose some sort of  pretend border in the middle of QLD ?

Another reason  is that a lot of people only have a limited amount of weekends and or are only avaliable certain dates... I believe they should be able to plan and travel to which ever shoots they want. and or can make it to... and if they do well enough in four events from three ranges they should be in the hunt for SOTY.

If you change it it to states.... it will potentially hurt numbers at both wagga and batemans bay as some people will not bother going to extra shoots if they won't all count.  It will boost the numbers in melbourne as some people will have no choice but to choose melbourne over one of the NSW shoots just to quality....

Unless the intention is to boost the numbers in Melbourne at the detriment of  Batemans Bay and Wagga..... I think  4 scores from 3 different ranges is a fairer option.

As for the points system.... I agree that linking to the number of competitors  is a step backwards but I think the points need to go a little deeper than 13th place to get down to 1 point.... if someone comes 15th in canberra they deserve more then one point..... if only for encouragement !!

I like the current points system and I feel that 4 events instead of 3 will cut down the chances of a draw enough anyway..... I did think that a bonus system for the bigger shoots was a good Idea, but for now I would vote to keep the points system as it is.

Cheers

Anthony
