A little late but we finally have the results from the last postal Australia verses Texas match.
We can hold our heads high and claim victory in the 3rd leg of this most important competition.
After a shaky start Australia now leads having won two from three.
It could easily have gone the other way but we dodged a bullet ( pardon the pun!) with the Little River range which is notorious for it's heavy conditions offering up fairly moderate breezes. This enabled us to post some reasonable scores sufficient to roll our Texan buddies.
Congrats to Tyson Trotter who snagged a rare double winning both light & heavy categories & top scoring with a very nice 241.05 in the light rifle category. Denny Henderson was the top scoring Texan & wasn't far away with a credible 239.02.
Australia dominated the points table with 14 of the top 20 shooters coming from the Land Down Under. We also topped the fly count with the Aussies hitting 31 & the Texans hitting 14 ( from the top 20 place getters).
We certainly didn't get it all our own way though as shooters from the Lone Star State shot the smallest groups in both categories with sub 1.2's and Donnel Gaines showed us all a clean set of heels taking out the highest scoring target with an incredible 59.04. It needs to be said that this was an Australian record up until last year!!
It looks to me like our mates from Texas are getting the hang of our game very quickly indeed. Great to see!
Thanks to Anthony Hall & Mike Cockcoft for collating the results. Not sure when the next one is scheduled...soon hopefully.
Regards,
Belly.
