Batemans Bay Results

Hi All,

A fabulous weekend of fly shooting ! Saturday was fairly breezy and consequently a reasonably low scoring day, Sunday while cold, was fairly still and great conditions which gave us some new national records for the 200 rimfire and some amazing scores and very close competition.  Terrific numbers, we ended up with 53 entries for Saturday and 32 for Sunday's rimfire.

Full results are here in both excel versions
June_2016_B_Bay_Fly_Published_results.xls
June_2016_B_Bay_Fly_Published_results.xlsx

Heavy Gun was won by Paul Deehan with a well earned 246.04, 2nd and third were Vince Vaina and Robert Bernard.  Small group and Highest Scoring target was Dave Groves with 2.03" and 55.03

Light Gun was won by Brian Taylor with 233.03 with Jack Lipko and Peter Munday taking 2nd & Third.  Small Group was won by Anthony Hall with 1.37 and Best Target was Russell Le Maitre with 56.02.

Rimfire was the story of the weekend with young Keagan McGrann not only winning, but setting two new Australian Records for Highest Score Aggregate (273.04) and Best group with 1.028".  These have now been certified by Max Coady and will stand as records.

Rimfire was won by Keagan McGrann (273.04) with Les Fraser less than one point behind in 2nd place (272.06)  and Sean Ambrose one more point back on 271.02.  Highest scoring target (59.02) and small group were both won by Keagan.

Overall, a great weekend.

Cheers

Anthony

Once again the Bateman's Bay club have put on a great shoot so congratulations to Anthony's and the rest of the club members who made the day a good one.
Conditions on the Sunday were very light and very good for shooting Rimfire and I was glad I was not shooting on the Saturday which was very tough.
On Sunday a number of us suffered with verticle when the breeze dropped right off too nothing. I herd a number of people complain about the same and I expect they looked at the flags like me and thought what a great condition and fired there shots off only to be disappointed.
Keagan shot when there was a slight push from the right, he did this on all his cards except his D target where a little bit of left to right occurred and his scores suffered so he avoided it on his last card.

The rifle Keagan shot was borrowed from Kathy Dundas and he had never shot it before so did well to handle the left hand feed of the Hall. Nothing special about the rifle and is in the same configuration (see below) as it has been shot for the last few years expect for a ammo change.

Rifle equipment - Hall Action, Broughton 4c Barrell, Big stick stock, Jewell trigger and Leupold 45x scope, the Tuner appears to be a a home made  job but resembles a Harrell, ammo was RWS R50 SC (Similar to regular R50).

Congratulations to all the winners over the weekend and a very well done to all those who attended to make it a great shoot.

Thanks

Dave Dundas

Thanks Anthony for a great weekend.  The wood you cut went to a very worthy cause.
Just like to congratulate Paul Deehan on another brilliant effort with the 300WSM.

I hope to see you all in Wagga in a couple of months for another great weekend.

Great to see yet another well attended match at the Bay…..well done (again) to big Paul who seems to be going along merrily this year without a care & smashing everyone in his path, regardless of the conditions….

Very well done to Brian Taylor who I think had his maiden victory in light gun shooting a 6.5 X 47 lapua. Yet another example of how persistence & hard work can get you where you want to be!
It's also an example of another caliber that has inherent accuracy  & which is very much suited to 500 meter shooting.

Great work also from Anthony for providing a nice pile of wood…..I believe it was put to good use!

Regards,
Belly
