Despite the recent wet weather the range was fairly dry with cloudy skies with almost calm conditions looked ideal. However the still conditions made it difficult to pick which way the air was moving with nothing showing on the flags but air moving all the same, this resulted in a little left to right and some vertical which caught out a number of shooters. Kathy Dundas shot a PB and took her first Fly win ahead of Ed McGrann and grandson Keagan not far behind. Some “L” Plates were attached to my bench and the usual fun and games seeing it was my first Fly shoot in years, fortunately the guys could not get me in one of those Blue “SSAA Try shooting vests” they issue at the range! The rain held off till we were back in the shed scoring so it made for a much better day than expected. Results below include shooters local clubs where they do the majority of their shooting as we would like some encourage others from the local clubs to come and participate in the Fly. Place Name Score Club 1st Kathy Dundas 275.4 WSRC 2nd Ed Mcgrann 268.5 SISC 3rd Keagan Mcgrann Jr 258.6 SISC 4th John Gilbert 258.5 SSAA - Wollongong 5th Tony Souter 257.7 SSAA -Syd 6th David Dundas 254.1 WSRC 7th Peter Cowie 229.0 SSAA -Syd 8th Keith Dowell 223.3 SSAA -Syd Best Target: Ed Mcgrann 59.1 Best Group: Ed Mcgrann 31mm Our next Fly shoot will be held on the 12th December, as it’s our last shoot of the year and almost xmas I will be again offering a bottle of 12yo Scotch for the winner. Congratulations to Kathy with 275.4, that's an impressive score. 270+ has only been shot 8 times out of the last 34 registered 500m fly matches since the start of 2012.

Thanks All, will pass on the comments to Kathy.
Her Fly shooting is improving all the time. The conditions were very calm which helped the scores get up there as not many shooters have a 270+ score at Silverdale. The competition is vevy tight with last months winner (Keith Dowell) finishing last on Saturday and just goes to show you can not have a bad card else you will be down the leader board - Consistancy wins. Hopefully, we will get some new target frames built so we can have some more shooters in 2016. Dave |
Hi Les
The Batemans Bay shoot is the first shoot that goes on the calendar so we will be there with bells on. All the Sydney shooters enjoyed their trip south this year and we want to get more shooters down there for 2016. We are having our xmas fly shoot and lunch next month and I will rev every one up to see who might be interested. Hopefully we can get around 12 shooters from Sydney this year for the rimfire and maybe a couple of those will shoot the 500m Fly as well. Unfortunately the 500m Fly is no longer shot in Sydnety as no one stepped up after Dave Waters organised the event years ago at the Hornsby range. Its been so long now I doubt it will every get started again which is a real shame, just needs a couple of Hornsby shooters to step up. Regards Dave |

I have to admit I thought it was 500m as well and thought WOW they had their shit together on that shoot lol. Well done to all that shot, the 200 is really seeing some great scores. I am assuming it's rimfire?
Cheers
Just doing my part to reduce the fly population!!!!

Years ago we thought 250+ was a great score so we got a trophy to put the few names on it if they scored 2 x 250+ in a calendar years - in the last 2 years we have doubled the number of names on the trophy.
What to do - This year I got a new trophy for anyone who has shot a 280+ which has only ever been done a couple of time at our club. Ed Mcgrann shot a 284 earlier in the year so is the only name on the trophy so far but I am sure in a year or two we will have some more. Got a bottle of Chivas already for the next shoot. Dave |

Great results !! And well done Kathy !!
Fantastic to see club results on here. David, if you are interested, I would be happy to make you a results page where you can post and store your 200 fly club results every month.... that way over time you will build historical results pages. Maybe start it off for 2016 ? You would just need them in either PDF or Excel format to post. Cheers Anthony |
