I think you will find that most of the fly shooters have come from other areas and some fly shooters are heading back to other disciplines as well. Once you get to the top 5% of the discipline you are in then you always look for the edge. There is some great results from fly shooters and Anthony is right we should recognise their efforts as all folks that shoot the fly are friends and an easy going lot. That is what makes the fly so much fun the only pressure you ever feel is on yourself for about 7minutes after that it is sledging, taking the piss, or just discussing the pro's and con's of wind reading.
Just to add to Paul's comment yep laying on your guts to shoot is much more uncomfortable than sitting at a bench but i still managed to get in the NSW state team this year for Target rifle and for short range benchrest i managed to shoot as many rounds as i could find and win the Light Varmit 100yd event.
All this shooting is just a blast and i would encourage all to try new things, enjoy shooting whilst it lasts.........

shooting well is more a mental control of your thoughts than just pulling the trigger........
