Mudgee Fly Shoot-round 1

Andy Prowse
Well I tried posting on the entry for 'new practice range' I posted earlier & got no takers, just some lookers/viewers, I'll try again as a new post.

MudgeeFly2016Round1.pdf

This is a trial, firstly, an initial sort out the range for conducting Fly shoots ( what have I missed or got wrong, etc.)  and secondly to see if anyone turns up. Provided I get some attendance, the next round will be 14-16th October.

I have intentionaly kept both shoots away from other Fly shoots in this State NSW, so that those who do not travel interstate have an opportunity to 'practice' in NSW.

email me or mobile for any concerns (note my mob is OFF after 6 or 7pm until about 8 or 9am), leave a number & name & I will call back.

Re: Mudgee Fly Shoot-round 1

Twenty Seven (27) days left to advise of attendance for the first round of 300m centrefire fly & 200yard rimfire fly weekend.

It cannot be called "nomination" as it is not currently a "recognised fly range".

We can in the future request the "Range 2" facility be recognised for 200yard rimfire at a state & national level but not for "the full kit" as it is only a 300m soft target range.

I am working towards better facilities at the 500m Silhouette range, more benchs, an actual concrete floor & hope fully a "facility shed" & bunk house. It just takes time, money & intent.............

I know why some dedicated rimfire competitors will not be in attendance (other shooting range commitments) but am baffled as to why no other centrefire shooters have not indicated any intention as yet.

Distinctive Mudgee patchs for fly hits are currently being sorted out, should be on hand by the Friday of the shoot.

Hope you are all enjoying your Flys, I am.

Andy.

Re: Mudgee Fly Shoot-round 1

Really starting to wonder why I bothered to put the Complex forward as a place to conduct Fly shoots.

I got only one starter (other than me) and they were not from this forum.

Saturday report:
Problem with Simmons 4-12 x42 showed up, when elevation is nearly maxed out the windage is not reliable & jumps 5" at 200yd, on my rimfire. Borrowed an elcheapo $250 Tasco 20x & it worked a charm, pity I had to return it.

Sunday report:
Regular groupings at 300m for the Omark & my Savage factory job, around the 1.5 - 2", reasonable considering the conditions.

Anyway, I will try again in October, 14th to 16th. I will post details around August, will be similar to the previous weekend. Please email if interested.

Hi Andy

I saw your new Fly patches tonight that you have had made, they look great and will look even better on the side of my shooting bag.
As mentioned Kathy and I are looking forward to coming up to Mudgee for your next shoot later in the year. I will invite the other Sydney shooters up as well but not sure how many will make the trip.

Regards

Thanks for that David. We should get more at the shoot in October, I have been doing some arm twisting with the locals & I think the "patch" has provided the interest. I always intended to have the "patch" but was reluctant to advertise it until I had the actual items in my hands. I do not do maybe promises.

I'll try to stick a photo of the patch in here.

Anyway - will be doing a separate post regarding the October weekend.
