Wagga range update and photos

This is the view from the bench line.

Hi all, just a quick update re Wagga range. A million trillion tonnes of dirt has been moved so far. We have installed eyebrow and full length baffles. The baffles are being filled with blue metal this weekend. 70CM of sand has been delivered and is being put into sandbags this weekend as well to act as retaining wall at each of the stop buts to hold the soft sand up the slope of the butts. The 200 mound is now HIGHER than the 300m targets used to be.

We have a range inspection coming up on the 3rd of April. All going well we will hope to be open for 50/100/200 benchrest by the weekend of the 5th April. 300 and 500 as well as silly wets and field rifle are still some ways off yet, barring me getting next weeks powerball numbers correct.

There are other things happening that are still in the fluid stage yet. When we know I will try and keep you all updated. Anyway happing shooting.

Great work by the Wagga team! I am looking forward to getting to shoot there again even if it's only out to 200. The main thing will be to see all of our friends at the range again.  Pete

Well done to all that are involved in the obvious hard work.

Thanks guys. I was thinking about running a 200m centre fire fly with a fly target scaled to 2/5ths size, so 10 ring would be about .45 of an inch. As it would not qualify for a registered match thought about having a one off limited patch only available for this shoot.  On the second day having a varmint shoot. Any rifle with a bipod only no flat bottomed stocks, no rear bag, bunny and fox targets at 50/100/200. On given command to fire you will be told what argent, one minute for 2 shots, everyone has a varmint gun.

Sounds like fun...But what about registering a 200 yard (or metres for that matter as the rule book hasn't been published yet) rimfire fly match....

That way at least its a registered match and you might get some official records etc ......

Plus there is rimfire crowd that might travel to wagga for a shoot like that as well.

450 sandbags filled and laid out today along with about half a tonne of rocks removed from the range floor. Getting there!
